SV 10.14- Masquerade
Even watched Smallville live! I'm not exhausted from the week.
Previously On indicates we’re back to “the Darkness.”
Lois has a cardboard model of a church… Cute. She’s worried her dad’s friends will recognize the vigilantes at the wedding.
Clark on camera as the Blur in England! And lots of other countries are wondering who the Blur is. “I won’t even bother with the Chinese because I’ll sound racist.”
Lois is worried Clark will be recognized because of all the writing he does about the heroes. She wants him to get a new disguise.
The Ace of Clubs? Wasn’t that place destroyed like four times over? Chloe and Oliver role playing. Gag. Chloe’s dress is hot, though. Olive bitches about having to wear a disguise because he can’t be himself and get a table right away.
Haha, Lois added a hood to Clark’s stupid jacket. He looks like Bart. Or an unholy love child of Bart and Oliver.
“You do not get to whoosh your way out of this one. I’ll super speed away for you. ‘Whoosh!’” Lois is so awesome. She really cracks me up!
Eww, Oliver did dye his hair brown. He receives a call from the wife of the man they stole the reservation from (Mr. Jones). Bodies hung on hooks, blood from her eyes. Dude from Previously On segment killed her. I have no memory of who he is.
Uh oh, “Mr. Jones” has guys with guns in his limo.
Clark at the crime scene. Some annoying reporter named Burt is there, asking questions about Clark and the Blur and being annoying.
Then Clark goes to the morgue where an autopsy is being done. Natural causes. Pathologist suggests someone giving in to their urges. We see Clark’s eye do a cool microscoping effect. He sees spots on the person, but pathologist says it’s ink from a pen.
Oliver and Chloe in a trunk. It’s their anniversary but Chloe forgot and doesn’t know if Oliver is her boyfriend.
Oliver and Chloe’s kidnappers know they aren’t the Joneses. Our blondes kick ass for a minute and wreck the room they’re taken to. Then they smooch. Chloe finds an FBI badge. The Joneses weren’t married, they were FBI agents! In another room are X-rays with the Darkness omega symbol.
Desaad. All x-rays were of people who were visitors to his sex club.
The real Mr. Jones arrests Chloe. But bleeds from his nose and eyes. Desaad knocks out Chloe.
Lois and Clark. Coroner couldn’t make a connection between the bodies. There is a stamp on each of their hands in the shape of a pretzel. Clark explains his microvision power to Lois. Have we seen this power before? Clark says coroner was covering his tracks, not checking out the bodies. No one recognized him as actually working for the hospital.
Desaad nightclub put omegas on people’s heads. Killing people he can’t convert. Clark makes Oliver stay put. Of course he doesn’t listen.
Chloe chained to the ceiling in a gross room. Then there’s a light and Clark rescues her? Seems like a dream. Clark talks about flashes and wonders if she and Chloe missed their chance. Obviously this is fake. And Chloe doesn’t want to smooch. Then Oliver is there. He wants to run away with her, no more hero stuff. She’s confused. She isn’t fooled. Lois is there now, taunting her about being happy like she and Clark are. Chloe recognizes envy, sloth, and lust, figures she’s being tempted.
In the real world, Desaad is taunting Chloe. He says sin is a liability he exploits. He knows Chloe knows what he is and what he’s capable of. Wants Chloe to kill him to save her friends. She recognizes wrath.
Neo!Chloe is there, talking about resisting temptation. To beat him at his own game. Chloe recognizes pride. Neo!Chloe talks about giving everything up for a relationship. Chloe throws away the knife. Desaad wonders the last time Chloe cried.
Clark rescues Chloe. Desaad says he’s a prophet and a servant to a great power. Darkseid. Says Clark wore his sin openly. Clark is stronger now.
Dessad has Clark trapped with his power.
Oliver attacks Desaad. With his fists no less. Desaad says Oliver is Chloe’s weakness. Clark saves Oliver form slipping into the Darkness. (or whatever. This storyline has me confused.)
Clark doesn’t want his name on the article he wrote about the serial killer. Lois apologizes, and Clark says he needs to wear a mask. He’s grown up not hiding his face. He says out there in the red and blue saving people is who he is. Clark Kent is just a name. “I am the Blur and I always have been.”
Lois is happy to hear it, but doesn’t understand how they’re going to make it work. He says the Blur won’t be the disguise, Clark Kent will be. He knows he needs to adjust his “Clark” behavior.
He knows that even though they silenced Godfrey, ended Granny’s orphanage, and buried Desaad beneath Belle Reeve, it isn’t the end of Darkseid.
Clark dons the glasses. Lois drags him to a cake tasting. Dude crashes into him and Clark apologizes. *shrug* A little rushed for that huge aspect of Clark. I’d have liked more attention paid to his “costume” and how it’s going to work considering everyone knows who he is.
Chloe looking at her yearbook. She’s been a lot of things over the years, defining herself by external factors. Hasn’t felt like “Chloe” in a while. Struggling to define herself against Oliver because she’s afraid of losing him. Love talk, gag.
Oliver says he’s going to be in the spotlight his whole life, while Chloe tried to disappear. She says he doesn’t have to be in the spotlight by himself. Chloe finally defines herself as his girlfriend. Can we move this along a bit? Not really caring about this relationship at all.
Uh oh, we see Oliver has the omega symbol on his head!!!
Next week, Clark and Chloe get married!
The Darkseid storyline seems all over the place to me because they’ve interrupted it with the Clois, the League, the Luthors, the VRA… I wish they’d focused on it a little more each episode.

Maybe next week will focus on Clark more.
