Bad call ruins perfect game

It's impossible to even understand how that Detroit pitcher missed out on a perfect game.

As the Yankee commentator said, it's "unfathomable."

26 batters up, and the 27th gets an infield hit due to a bad call.

BAD CALL.

The runner was out by a step, not, like, an inch or a blink.

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I know umpires are human. And humans are fallible. But this is inexcusable.

Details and video here. Listen to the commentators--they're in shock.

Soon afterwards an umpire in the Yankee game got hit by a line drive while standing in center field. ...humans are capable of movement, right? How slow are these guys' reflexes?

What a bunch of crap.
I think if it had been me, I probably would've gotten thrown out for beating up the umpire.

The pitcher definitely handled it better than most people would. Really was amazing.

Though it does beg the question how does one remove a baseball mitt that's been shoved down one's throat?

Hahaha, yes, or up one's ass. Uncomfortable situation.

I haven't even had time to watch baseball lately. I did watch part of the Cardinals' game from the casino bar tonight, LOL.

I'm finally remembering that the baseball season has started, and my shows are all over (though new ones starting) so I can watch more. I've caught some in the car while driving, too. But yeah, haven't been able to watch as much as I want to. And haha, last Thursday I was at a bar for a show and I was catching updates when my friend was buying drinks. Good times.

I forget I can be listening on the radio! I keep pleading for satellite radio so that I can listen to everything.

This is just disgusting. How many perfect games have ever been thrown? That poor pitcher. I heard the news discussing whether the league might step in and fix things. It's the right thing to do.

But I love this tweet from "Darth Vader's" Twitter account:

darthvader: Tarkin just sent off Imperial recruitment papers to Umpire Jim Joyce. That guy's got moxie.

hahahaha

This would have been the 21st perfect game in history. He had it all the way to 26 outs and then poof on a bad call.

The league stepping in would definitely be a good thing for baseball. The pitcher was gifted a new Corvette, which I'm sure helps, but still.

I love that Twitter quote! It's so true though!
