Complaints against the WB
Sex and the City on at 11pm instead of Friends. WTF?
"Everything you've waited to see will happen" on Smallville. So. Lana will get squished by a meteor, Chloe will get a non-psychotic boyfriend, and Clark and Lex will confess their undying love and makeout on screen. And the Kents will get slapped around a little, because I think they deserve it.
I really don't want to dislike The Batman. I really don't. *looks down at Batman pjs*
But. *spoilers for this morning's episode*
The new theme song is too peppy for Batman. The old one really did a nice job of setting the tone for the dark show (particularly dark as it's set in between Pokemon and Xaolin Showdown, which you practically need sunglasses to watch). Something is just plain missing in the new song.
I miss Robin. Well, maybe it's not that I miss Robin so much as I don't want to see Batgirl. Or, as she tried to have herself called, "Batwoman." She's highly irritating. She doesn't change her voice in front of her father. And I can't believe, unless he's suffering from severe denial, that Jim Gordon wouldn't recognize his little girl. He's the Commissioner, for crying out loud! She made her own batarangs, um, how?!?! And I can't believe Batman is letting her use them. They don't look too safe when she uses them as grappling hooks. Also, she bests him in a fight. An untrained teenage twit bests Batman? I don't think so.
Speaking of untrained, again, I can't believe that Bruce didn't insist on training her before she went out again. Maybe next week's episode will clear that up a little. The Boy Wonder got trained. All of them. It just bothers me, because while Bruce is a nut (and he's not even far gone here), he wouldn't let teenagers fight without better guidance. Except I guess he would, based on this episode. At least he recognized it was Barbara. I'd have been really pissed if he didn't.
Batman saves Batgirl from falling to her death when Ivy drops them both off a building, and Batgirl flails, and Batman swoops in and saves her. She says, "You're good that this!" Like, no shit, Batgirl. That's why he's Batman. That's why Bruce left the country for a period of time, it's why he trained his body so hard. SO THAT HE COULD BE GOOD AT THAT. Jesus. State the obvious much?
And Alfred has had like no screen time these past two episodes, which is really far from cool since I love him in this. I love the Bruce/Alfred scenes together; I like watching how they interact as butler and master, and father figure/son figure.
But, all wasn't bad. There were some great Batpuns, such as when Batman is analyzing one of Ivy's plants under the microscope, and he says it isn't "garden variety." A kid isn't gonna understand why that's funny.
Also, Alfred mentioned "Bat Hound"! Eeee! When he found out about Batgirl, he asked if they were going to need a doggy door on the Batcave for the BatHound. So funny. But if they added Ace, then the show would get even more little kiddie.
Grr.
TV has just not really been working for me lately.

I think I'll give Batman a few more weeks, if only because I just can't give it up. We'll see.
