All Moved In
To those of you following my everday exploits as myself, kudos to you. Not that I'm not myself here, but in real life my topics of conversation are usually a little more in-depth than cute boys kissing or TV shows.
I'm all moved in to my new apartment, all I have left to do is put up the rest of my decorating stuff (newspaper clippings, comic strips, things like that- there are a lot so it takes some time). I also need to find a job, but the school is offering some sort of Merit Assistantship, which will help with money.
The area I now live in is okay. It could all use a fresh coat of paint, but there are a lot of nice shops and restaurants, and an okay pizza place you can almost spit to- you can definitely throw a stone and hit it. The post office is less than a fifteen minute walk away, which is good because I got a box there because I trust mail of any sort about zero percent, so I feel more secure knowing that my mail basically isn't on the street for anyone to take. Yes, I'm paranoid, but considering I was mailed a key to the new place that didn't actually get to me, I have a reason to be concerned. The place is also a fairly easy commute to school, which is nice.
Also part of moving in was responding to all the emails I owed people and that I couldn't send because I was busy with packing and anxiety and all that crap. So, sorry if you were waiting on one from me. Also, my Internet connection is now wireless, and I'm not exactly sure whose network I'm using, so the connection comes and goes without warning, which is kinda uncool. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow, but as long as it works I'm okay.
No cable, so for the first time in my life I get to experience the wonder that is a cable antenna. The picture is often fuzzy or tripled, but it's not so bad. And it picks up FOX and the WB, so I can watch House and Smallville, and Bones when it starts, so I'm pretty much okay. I'm just going to have to reprogram my VCR to tape channels, which sucks because it's a pain. But I have class scheduled for during Smallville, so it's a necessary evil. I just don't really want to get involved with the whole downloading episodes thing if I can avoid it.
Of course, the channels that come in the clearest- nearly flawless- are CBS, PBS, and one of the home shopping channels. Yes, the antenna gets like 10 channels, and two of them are home shopping channels. I also never ever watch CBS or PBS, and I watch the other fairly good channels, NBC and ABC, only sparingly. Which of course might change, hehe. I'm not really griping, I just find it amusing. However, now I won't be able to watch Nip/Tuck when it premiers, which I'm upset about, but perhaps I'll have convinced myself to get cable by then.
I also made a new icon for myself *points*. I realized I post a lot of stuff related to Batman or the Batfamily, and I like Batman (as all my Batman junk attests to, including my new pillow case and stuffed Batmobile), so I thought I'd procrastinate while writing my probably-going-to-be-late next
virginlex submission. It's from a picture I took while waiting on line for the Batman coaster at Six Flags. I think I'm going to start looking for cool pictures to take and then scan so I can make some nifty icons. I know I can only have three, and one is always going to be the one
laceymcbain made for me, but it could be fun to have more. I mean, those of you with paid accounts have what, 100 now?
Anyway, I should get back to my fic. I just wanted to update briefly while I still had a connection.
