Batman (1989)

Just finished watching the original Batman movie.

Damn, it's good.

Jack Nicholson is absolutely amazing. One of his lines even has him calling Batman "Batsy."

Michael Keaton seems a bit expressive for Batman, but that's okay. He's Michael Keaton so he rocks. The guy at work's been raving about Beetlejuice for two days, so MK has been on my mind.

Duh, I've seen it before, just not all at once in a long, long time.

The only bad part is it's so 1980s.

Damn, Danny Elfman writes amazing stuff. Why didn't anyone at my undergrad school know who he is?

Long live Batman!

Oh man, you had to mention Beetlejuice. Now I've got all these quotes popping into my head! I used to obsess about that movie, quoting it to annoy my family. You remember the cartoon?

Anyway, my fave Batman movie was Batman Returns. But that was mainly b/c of Catwoman. The first one was the best though.

Did you know Danny Elfman also composed the theme for Spider-man?

Haha, this guy I talk to a lot at work has been quoting it off and on for the last two days. I haven't seen it in quite some time, myself. Keaton is so good in that movie.

I was *obsessed* with Batman Returns when I was little. I even have the novelization of the movie. And my Batman and Catwoman action figures. Catwoman was pretty darn awesome in that. Both movies have their appeal.

Did you know Danny Elfman also composed the theme for Spider-man?

Yep, not that I could hum the Spider-man theme. I'm not much of a Spidey fan, though I saw both movies (he's too much of a dork for me, and Mary-Jane is irritating, maybe even more so than Lois). Then again, I only saw the first one because my friends were going, and the second because I saw it for free. Awesome train sequence in the second one.

I love Danny Elfman's stuff (he did Men in Black and Nightmare begore Christmas, too, both of which are awesome scores). Senior year the film society at school held a movie trivia night, and I wanted to have a category for Danny Elfman music, but it got vetoed because no one in the club knew who he was! I almost cried.

Aw, that had to suck! And I can understand you not quite liking the Spidey movies. They keep forgetting what makes Spider-man, Spider-man. His sarcasm!! It's his shtick for crying out loud!! They make it all about Peter Parker the dork instead of the annoying web-head!

Moving on, um...how are you?

[identity profile] quiet--tiger.livejournal.com 2006-07-02 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
The parts where Peter is Spider-man are sorta cool, but there's just so much mixed in with MJ and Peter's psyche that it just got annoying. I don't even know if I'll see the third one. Maybe.

How am I? I'm good. Nothing uber bad or uber good to report at the moment.

You?

Fine, though I'm kinda bored and wanting to post something, but I'm unsure if I should post it now or later.

Good point. I shall go write that entry now. I just had to do some--okay a lot--of quizzes first...

How the hell could *anybody* not know who Danny Elfman is? Seriously. I mean, even *I* know who he is.

But you also like Tim Burton, and Danny and Tim work together a lot.

Believe me, I was horrified that no one in the *film* society knew who he was.

The reason I know who Danny Elfman is - I have piano arrangements for some of the stuff he composed, and I was playing them and noticing that all my favorite pieces were by this Elfman guy... so I looked him up :-)

Danny Elfman is the man! I wish I knew how to play the piano so I could play some of his stuff. I suppose I could knock out some of it on the violin if I really wanted to...
