House
Sorry for the relative post waterfall today, I just want to take advantage of the Internet while I have it.
I'm so psyched about House starting in two weeks. The other night Three Stories was on. Definitely one of the best hours of TV I've seen in a long time. It just starts off amusing and a little confusing, and then just zings you with all the character development at the end. ZINGS. With capital Z. It really made me want to watch more good TV drama, so yesterday I watched a couple eps of House that I had on tape (one was the one with the 80-year-old who has a crush on House and compares him to Ashton Kutcher. God, those are funny scenes. And Wilson's reading of poem to House- classic. So freaking hilarious, especially to a House/Wilson shipper. Gotta love it.).
And today I watched an episode of Nip/Tuck, which I used to think was the best show on TV until I fell in love with House. Nip/Tuck is a very solid show. I watched the pilot with my new apartmentmate the other day, and he was able to see why I fell in love with the show after the pilot. So much crazy shit happens in that first hour that I couldn't *not* watch it. I'm upset I'm not going to be able to catch this season, but I'll just have my mom tape them and keep them for me for when I go home. And the DVDs for Season 2 came out this week! Same day as House season 1! I know, I sound all stupid, but they are both good shows and I want full dvd collections for both of them.
As opposed to Smallville, where I'm perfectly content with only season 1, maybe season 2 but I hate the whole caves thing because it's stupid. Season 2 has some good eps. Season 3, also, the Lex-centric ones, but the whole liver-zombie thing was silly. And let's not even talk about season 4, I've bitched enough about it in this thing and I only had it for the final two eps of the season.
So, in short: House rocks. The man and the show. Nip/Tuck rocks, because it just goes that extra marathon, forget about just a mile. Smallville was fun and campy, then got depressing and confusing.
And no, my new icon has nothing to do with this post, but I like it. Hopefully it works okay.

staying in touch
I see you've got a fic up based around that Batman pin-up. Oh, God - I'll try to read it this week. That pic made me laugh, and ... yeah, we all need that pin-up calendar. Desperately.
I have to go pick green beans for a birthday supper now - my brother and wife are both turning 40 this month, so we're celebrating today. Stay in touch and I'll try to do the same.

Re: staying in touch
I moved, and the network at the new place is wireless. It's free. But it's also inconsistent. In the week I've been here, I've been totally lacking Internet for two full days, and partial days the rest. It wouldn't be a problem if it were consistent, but I never know when it's going to work or not. And then when I do have it, I feel guilty for not using it, so I'm on it the whole time it works, which is a crappy way to budget time.
But school starts next week, and I can use the computers there, I assume, to check email and stuff. It's not that I'll be totally gone, it's that I may not get around to reading stuff or replying to emails for a while (I had to save the first two parts of your Heaven and Earth chapter to ensure that I'd be able to read it any time soon, then had to wait for part three because the internet cut out before I was able to save teh third part).
I'm psyched about House. It's just so good.
Seriously, if there was a Justice League pin-up calendar, I'd be all over it. Probably everyone who pays attention to the JL at all would. You'd think DC would put one out.
Have fun at dinner! Though you probably wrote this yesterday, so I hpe you had fun at dinner.
I'll try not to be too distant. The other roommate says he thinks we should get a wire connection so even though we'd have to pay, it'd be consistent. I'm all for that, and with three of us it won't cost too much per individual.
